The Somali National Olympic Committee (NOC) and the Somali-language RAAD Satellite Television on Tuesday signed a co-operation agreement during a ceremony held at the NOC headquarters in Mogadishu, the capital.

The two sides signed a document which explains that RAAD Satellite TV will give the first priority to covering Somali sports activities in and outside the country to encourage the nation’s sports men and women to continue carrying out their national duty.

The acting president of the NOC Aden Hajji Yabarow, popularly known as Wiish, who addressed the signing ceremony thanked RAAD TV for its usual efforts to cover Somali sporting activities more than anyone else.

“The history of Somali sports will always mention RAAD TV which shows a brotherly and friendly cooperation and this is a tangible move that will remain in the minds of the Somali people for ever,” Wiish said at the signing ceremony.

“We hope that RAAD TV’s step forward will pave the way for greater cooperation between the NOC and media organizations working in and outside Somalia,” he added.

RAAD TV deputy director of Mogadishu office Ali Haashi Ali for his part pledged that the London-based Somali Satellite TV will broadcast daily news, interviews and comments on Somali sporting activities.

“We are working for the people of Somalia and this cooperation means the enlargement of our work for the nation of Somalia and its people,” the deputy director of the Mogadishu office said during his brief address at the signing ceremony.

Somali Football federation President his Highness Said Mahmoud Nur, described today’s cooperative agreement between Somali NOC and RAAD TV as a lucrative step forward.
