The General Da'ud Cup
The General
Da’ud Cup is one of the yearly competitions organized by the Somali Football
Federation and it is held as a memorial service for General Da’ud Abdulle
Hersi, the founding father of Somali National Army.
General Da’ud died in 1965, but the Somali FA has been holding the competition in his remembrance since 1972.
This competition is the second most watched sporting event in the country after the national league. Previously, only 12 clubs used to take part in the competition, but was now promoted to 16 clubs from Division A, Division B and Division C. Four from each Division.
The Somali military Football Club, Horseed FC always takes part in the
competition which gets some financial support from the Somali National Army.
