The
site which was first launched in 2008 was now redeveloped and had in the past
helped an uncountable number of Somalis and foreigners around the world get the
latest news and comments about the successive football activities in Somalia
and the neighbouring Djibouti.
Many
media professionals in Somalia have fully lauded for the current shape of SFF
bilingual website: www.somsoccer.com/somali and www.somsoccer.com/english which they said was also more
important for the Somali nationals currently learning the English language. Somali
Sports Press Association president Abdi Aziz Godah Barre described the newly-redesigned
site as the first ever Somali-owned website to be developed in such way.
"This
is really a very beautiful website—its sophisticated design and the important
information it is currying are very admirable, rather than broadcasting
football news the website will serve the Somali students who are currently
learning the English language because it is a bilingual and its stories are
translating Somali into English "added the president of Somali Sports Press
Association Abdi Aziz Godah Barre.
Somali
Football Federation Secretary General Abdi Qani Said Arab noted that the
somsoccer.com was first launched in 2008 and since then it played a great role
in presenting the football development activities here in the country to the
outside world. He added that the SFF had spent a plenty of efforts in
redesigning and developing the site.
"This
website represents the real image of Somali Football Federation and it is
intended to give the Somali people where ever they are in the world and as well
as to the other communities around the globe access to know about the local
football activities in the country” secretary General Abdi Qani Said Arab
indicated in a press statement Saturday.
"Just
five years ago, Somali Football Federation successfully became the first ever
sporting association in war-torn Somalia to launch its own website in a bid to
present our activities on it—currently we are very delighted that the SFF
website became the most beautiful soccer federation website in the continent”
the SFF secretary General noted.
The
SFF website was designed and developed by the largest web solution provider in
the horn of Africa Ileys inc. The Mogadishu-based company who has branches in
other cities including Hargeisa has in the past been friendly with Somali
Football Federation.
The
Somali Football Federation and the web service provider www.ileys.so have
agreed that the company will have to develop and redesign somsoccer.com once in
every two years in a bid to have a sophisticated site going designed with the
latest software in the world of technology.
The
founder and general manager of Ileys incorporation Engineer Abdirahman Sheik
Isse Ahmed (Kumi) told that his company had spent more time and energy in the
Somali FA website designing and finally succeed to launch what he termed as the
most ‘sophisticated’ website they ever designed which he said is fully
attracting the attention and the eyes of all who visit it.
"We
always like that the Somali Football Federation website be more developed than
any other soccer federation website in the world in terms of its design and we
are pledging to always make it the frontrunner of all websites” added Engineer
Abdirahman Sheik Isse Ahmed AKA Kumi.
Somali
Football Federation secretary General Abdi Qani Said Arab noted that young and
very active individuals who were educated by the Somali football federation
from their primary school eras are working the SFF website. "We are very proud
of having such young individuals operating at our media department” secretary
General Abdi Qani Said Arab emphasized.
In
September 2011, the confederation of African football (CAF) recognised the
Somali Football Federation media department as the most active media body
across the Africa continent.
CAF
secretary General Mr. Hicham El Amrani at that time said in a letter he sent to
Somali Football Federation media department of which a copy was given to SFF
secretary General that the department was the first in terms of reporting to
the CAF media network from football activities in its country more than any
other CAF affiliated national federation.
Somalia was also praised of becoming the first African country to issue its own activity book which is written in the English language. The book which was first issued in 2011 is now annually printed by the SFF media department and is available at the offices of FIFA, CAF and CECAFA.
