Ma’mur beat Hamar Jajab in Somali schools’ soccer tourney opening match

In the opening match of the 2011 Somali schools’ football tournament young boys from Ma’mur school humiliated their Hamar Jajab school rivals by six goals to nothing on Thursday afternoon.


The match attracted officials from Somali football federation, the Somali students’ Union which is partner with SFF in terms of schools’ tournaments and other guests. Somali Football Federation executive committee member Ali Abdi Mohamed who talked to the media during the opening ceremony said that his federation gives much attention to the schools’ tournaments.

“I encourage you to show good exhibition, I am very hopeful that some you will have the chance to represent Somali U- 17 in the years to come—show fair play” the executive committee member told the school children.

Somali Football Federation secretary General Abdi Qani Said Arab for his part emphasized that the SFF has two main objectives in holding the schools’ tournaments one is to start football development from the very beginning and the other is to create friendship among children from different schools and different neighborhoods.

The school’s soccer tournament is a yearly event jointly organized by Somali Football Federation and the country’s Students’ Union.
