Due to unrest and nearly daily armed confrontations in Somali capital, members of the national U-17 soccer squad have fled from their training camp in the Abdel Aziz district in the north east of the lawless capital Mogadishu, the team’s coach revealed on Monday.

The squad members who have been under going daily training since June the 2nd this year are now encamped in the Somali police academy to get access to continue their training, according to its coach Mohamed Abdulle Farayare.

He sent his major thanks to the chairman of Somali police sports club “Heegan” Colonel Ali Abdi Mohamed whom he said had provided the national squad with a proper camp to train in.

“Before we fled from our former training camp some times the players were not able to come, because of the unrest in the eastern parts of the city, but for the past several days a single of my players missed the training, as here is more safer than our former position” the coach said.

He added that Somali Football federation authorities had told members of the U-17 squad to give the first priority to the safety of their lives and remain at home if they feel that they can not go to the amp due to insecurity.

“Although we are facing one of the most difficulty experiences than ever, I am confident that my young boys will score success in the upcoming CECAFA U-17 and I have full confidence in them” says Mohamed Abdulle Farayare the coach of Somali national U-17 soccer team.

“This time we are going to the CECAFA U-17 for competition, not only for participation and I have high hopes” the coach stressed adding that Somalia, Tanzania and Uganda had previously been praised by CECAFA for coming up with the real Under 17 ages and like wise he has now selected talented young men of the suitable age.

The Somali U-17 football squad is under huge preparation for the CECAFA U-17 challenge cup which is expected to kick off in Sudanese capital Khartoum on August 19 2009.
