Honorable Khadija Mohamed Diriye, said that her ministry
together with Somali Football Federation had done everything to have a high
profile competition adding that this year’s tournament is well-developed in
comparison with last year’s inaugural edition.
She mentioned that a team of football veterans have been
named on the appeals committee of the tournament, adding that this will help
the smooth going of the competition. former Ocean stars players in 1960s Prof
Muse Mohamed Nasir who doubles as vice president of Somali Sports Press
Association and Haji Mohamed Ahmed Olow are the top profile names in the
appeals committee.
"The ministry is leading this competition, but we couldn’t have done anything without Somali Football Federation whose job is to develop the game in Somalia. They have embraced everything relating to football administration and technicality” the minister said adding that the SFF had also donated full sporting equipment to the participating states. She said that there is a very healthy cooperative relationship between the ministry and Somali Football Federation, who had joined hands to promote the game.

event. When Jubbaland State said they were unable to host the tournament due to
lack of resources. Mayor of Mogadishu embraced to host the event within
minutes, so he is fully praiseworthy and we appreciate his commitment to the

in a press conference at Stadium Banadir on Friday.
