Hosts Banadir will take on Jubbaland State in the opener match
on Friday December 8, but the opening festival will take place on Thursday
according to the time table of the event.
The six teams in the competition are divided into two
groups. Hosts Banadir are placed in group A with Jubbaland and Galmudug States,
while the Puntland State is in group B with South West and Hirshabelle States.
"On top of Thursday’s opening festival, two U-15 teams from Somali Football Federation’s youth development project will exhibit a friendly match in the day-long opening celebrations” Somali minister for youth and sport, Honorable Khadija Mohamed Diriye told a press conference on Tuesday.
She lauded Somali Football Federation for the high
profile organization of the competition saying she is hopeful that the event
will leave much interest amongst the people of Somalia inside the country and elsewhere
in the world.
"A team of football veterans including former players and
former referees have been appointed in the appeals committee for the competition.
I would like to thank Somali Football Federation for the good arrangements they
made for the competition” the minister said.
Meanwhile, Somali Football Federation donated full
equipment to each of the six teams participating in the competition. The minister
for youth and Sport Honorable Khadija Mohamed Diriye has been honored b the
federation to present the equipment to the teams.
