The workshop gathered FA presidents, Secretary Generals
and finance managers from football associations in the CECAFA region and as
well as CECFA secretary General Nicholas Musonye was present.
The workshop was aimed at briefing Member Associations on
the most important principles in the FIFA Forward program and how to manage the
funds they receive from FIFA in the most appropriate way to avoid from
financial misconducts which can result in FIFA cutting their funds.
FIFA’s financial assistance to its member associations to accelerate football development in the world will increase to 1,250,000 USD per year. That is 5 million USD in every four years.
As shown in the financial assistance plan every
FIFA-member association gets access to 500,000 USD per year to cover running
costs and other financial needs and as well as 750,000 USD for football
projects including construction of soccer facilities and other complexes as
planned by member FAs and approved by FIFA.
This was the first such event organized by FIFA for
CECAFA region and hosted in Djibouti. President of Djiboutian Football
Federation, Souleiman Hassan Waberi said that it was an honor for his country
and his federation that FIFA forward program workshop for the region took place
in his country.
Djiboutian minister for youth and sport, Mr. Hassan
Mohamed Kamil, who addressed at the workshop thanked FIFA for its continued
support to football in his country.
"I would like to emphasize the testimony of our indefinite
gratitude to FIFA, not only because of organizing this workshop in our country,
but also for its constant support which helped develop football in the country.
I thank the member Associations in the CECAFA region for their attendance of
this workshop” said the minister in his address at the FIFA Forward workshop.
