Somalia promotes in FIFA ranking

Somalia, a war-devastated country in the horn of Africa has promoted in the monthly issued world ranking by the international football governing body FIFA.


According to the latest FIFA/Coca-cola world ranking table of September 2012, Somalia is in the 187th position promoting from 190th rank of last month.

With the latest FIFA ranking Somalia is ahead of 21 countries around the world those have stabled governments as most of them haven’t experienced civil wars like Somalia who had been undergoing one of the world’s most notorious civil wars for the past 22 years.

“Many football-loving Somalis have sent congratulatory messages to Somali Football Federation over the latest promotion in FIFA/Coca-cola world ranking” Somali Football Federation education officer Ali Mohamed Ahmed told the media on Wednesday.

“In less than 20 days our U-17 squad will play against Sudan in the first leg of the African junior qualifying and in November our senior National team will participate in the CECAFA Tusker challenge cup to be held in Uganda so taking advantage from those competitions we hope that Somalia will once again go up in the FIFA ranking” the SFF education officer Ali Mohamed Ahmed told said in a statement.
