According to The Sun, Capello confronted Redknapp following Manchester United's narrow win at Fratton Park on Monday night.
The Italian's actions are without doubt in response to Redknapp's obvious discontent with the way the Three Lions lined up in their 2-2 friendly draw against the Czech Republic last week.
The former West Ham boss blasted the decision to field David Beckham, insisting Wayne Rooney should instead be deployed on the right wing.
Redknapp was also perplexed at the exclusion of Pompey striker Peter Crouch, who was left out of the squad altogether to accommodate Emile Heskey.
A source close to Capello said: “Fabio felt it was important he and Harry had a conversation and sorted out any differences. It was a friendly discussion.”
Redknapp is not the only high-profile critic of Capello's tactics, as last Wednesday's performance at Wembley has met with harsh reviews from all quarters.
Former Tottenham winger Chris Waddle was bemused at the former AC Milan coach's persistence with the ageing Beckham and insisted the likes of David Bentley should be given more opportunities.
Steven Gerrard's deployment on the left flank also caused a stir, while Telegraph journalist Patrick Barclay boldly declared that Steve McClaren - the man held responsible for England's failed EURO 2008 campaign - did a better job than Capello is currently doing.
Thus, it is clear the ex-Juventus tactician will have to win over more than just Redknapp when his side takes on Andorra and Croatia in next month's World Cup qualifiers.
