Speaking at the capacity building seminar for media
officers from CAF member associations held 18-20 December 2016 at CAF
centre of excellence in Cameroon, CAF executive committee member and the
president of CAF media committee, Mr. Anjorin Moucharafou said that CAF was
fully appreciating the work by Somali FA communication officer.
"Today I want to talk about someone that I don’t know
personally, but I like the way he handles his job. I am not sure if he is here,
but he is the media officer of Somalia Football Federation. He does a good job
and CAF is happy with that” CAF executive committee member and the president of
CAF media committee, Mr. Anjorin Moucharafou said.
"Now you have been appointed to work at the TOTAL Africa Cup of Nations as a media officer and I am sure that the good job you are doing will one day take you to a higher position at the continental level, because at CAF we admire your dedication” CAF executive committee member and the president of CAF media committee, Mr. Anjorin Moucharafou told the Somali FA communication director when he saw the Somali FA official sitting in front of him.
"I want every
media officer in Africa to work harder as Shafi’i is doing in his country and
as well as in Djibouti because CAF wants every media officer to be a good
example” Mr. Moucharafou said.
On his side, CAF media director, Junior Binyam, commended
the Somali FA director of communication, Shafi’i Mohyaddin Abokar, as the most
active media officer in Africa. "Shafi’i has been doing a tremendous job that
made CAF to be well-aware of the
football development in Somalia more than any other country and that is because
of his job” Mr. Binyam said.
"As you know CAF awarded Somali FA president Abdiqani
Said Arab in January 2016 as the best African football leader of the year and
that is be because of what Shafi’i has been doing. CAF wouldn’t know how well
the president was managing football development in Somalia but it was his media
officer, Shafi’i who always reported to CAF about the progress in Somalia” Mr.
Binyam said in his address.
He said that some football federations in African even
don’t have media officers adding that it was very important for FAs to employ full
time media officers.
"From 2017, it will be mandatory that every football
federation in Africa must have a media officer” Mr. Binyam said adding that
media officers are important machines for the federations and must attend all
executive committee meetings. "They are not decision makers, but they should
know everything within the federation as they speak on behalf of the
federations” he said.
