The Somali footballers
have today made their final training session as they will clash Kenya in the opening
match on Friday. This year’s CECAFA U-15
Championship which is the inaugural edition of the youth tourney, is mainly
intended to gear up young boys for future events, according to Somali Football Federation
president Abdiqani Said Arab who also doubles as CECAFA vice president.
The president said that
CECAFA has decided to organize this tournament in a bid to allow the countries
in the region to produce talented U-17 teams in the next two years and to avoid
age cheatings witnessed at several CECAFA youth competitions in the past. However, somsoccer.com
will report from the competition and will mainly focus on all group A fixtures
for the Somali U-15 football squad.
