In a speech addressed to young boys, the vice president
told them they are the national flag carriers and urged them to listen to their
coaches, exercise fair play and behave well before, during and after all
matches.
"You are very young boys, this will be your first
international appearance and many more will follow as you grow up and continue to
represent your country. You will be fighting
against boys of your age, but that is not a real fight; it is a fight for the football
for 90 minutes during which you defend your goal and score against the other
team, but you are all members of African football family” SFF vice president
Abdullahi Sheik Nor, told Somali U-15 football squad members.
At the end of his visit to the Ocean Stars youngsters on Friday, the vice president, Nor, who is one of the most well-known businessmen in Somalia, donated cash to the boys to encourage them as they are preparing for the Eid celebrations on Sunday prior to their departure to Asmara on Tuesday.
The boys have been trained under the SFF’s youth training
programs with the assistance from FIFA and they will have the opportunity to represent
Somalia for the first time in the maiden CECAFA under 15 championship in
Eritrea.
