Somali deputy sports minister names SFF president 'a hardworking man"

Deputy Minister for youth and sport of Somalia, Honorable Ahmed Omar Islaw has described Somali Football Federation president, Abdiqani Said Arab "a hardworking man" telling the country's football stakeholders to help him achieve more development schemes in the years to come.


As he opened the annual general meeting of Somali Football Federation on 31st of December 2017, the deputy minister lauded for the good leadership of president Abdiqani Said Arab.


"In 2017 SFF president was elected to CECAFA executive committee for a sixth successive term and as well as was appointed into FIFA competitions committee member. This shows how Somalia is active in the administration of the world of football and as a government we are very proud of that” Deputy Minister for youth and sport of Somalia, Honorable Ahmed Omar Islaw told the AGM.



The government official said that since he was appointed to the national duty the ministry and Somali Football Federation had cooperated on a number of development programs saying the latest one was the recently ended Inter-State football tournament which was a very fantastic and successful event. He commended the SFF for maintain an excellent relationship with the ministry for youth and sport.


"The ministry is there to assist the development of sport in Somalia, so feel free to come to us and inform us about all of your needs and we are happy to do our utmost to help you” Honorable Ahmed Omar Islaw, told in his address at the SFF annual general meeting.


"Cooperation leads to success, so let us all join hands to be able to take Somalia to a greater stage in the world of sport. Somali government is delighted with what you are doing for the country” the deputy minister added.


"The visit by CAF president Ahmed Ahmed to Somalia in April 2017 showed us that the world football family is now focusing on Somalia and that they want to help the football progress of the country” Honorable Islaw said.


"We donated a piece of land to the SFF and they are constructing their headquarters there. We did that because we want to encourage you so that you can redouble your efforts towards the development of Somalia football” the deputy minister said and invited football stakeholders to his office whenever they have some needs.
